Nintendo E3 2016 Disappointment

So, like everyone, I was all excited about E3 and what Nintendo was going to reveal. The games I wanted to hear about the most were Pokemon Sun and Moon and Pikmin 4 (Both were announced by the way, just in case you didn't know). I was feeling happy until a recent announcement about Nintendo's plan for their E3 presentation. It turns out, the only thing Nintendo was going to talk about at E3 was only going to be about Zelda games. Nothing else. I got the news from this video and was really upset at Nintendo about it. Were you excited for Sun and Moon possibly being in the presentation? Too bad, just Zelda news for E3! It won't probably even talk about the NX! (The NX is Nintendo's next console coming out in 2017). This is even twice as upsetting if you don't even play Zelda games, which I don't. So, are you upset or happy about this? Leave a comment to tell me what you think of this.

  2. I did have some reservations about an NX reveal, as Nintendo seems to be gearing for a "Riding into the sunset" finale for the 3DS this year. But for showing just one game at e3, come on Nintendo! It's not like you couldn't have shown multiple games this year, you've got Pokémon SM, Metroid Federation Force (which would've caused some fuss), Monster Hunter Generations, Yokai Watch 2 (Two different versions), Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Paper Mario Colour Splash (Which, again would have kicked up a shitstorm), Rhythm Paradise Megamix, Kumatomo, & new Nindies releasing in the next few months.

It just seems that they've decided to swap their business tactic from "We'll show you all games coming out in the next six months" to "We'll show you one game that will come out in March at the earliest".

It's a difficult time. The 3DS is five years old and has had a pretty good life, the WiiU's four year life has been weird (It's got hardly many games, but most of the console's game have been good or amazing). To some degree the WiiU is the Gamecube 2.0 and it struggled to gain weight in the market just like the Gamecube did 14 years ago.

Do I think the NX will succeed? It depends. Kimishima wants to move away from the "Wii-Era" but he's still under contract to complete Iwata's vision, which is the Wii-Era. Unless Kimishima has managed to coyly put his vision into the hardware then this will be similar to the two previous consoles; a feature around a console. The Wii had motion control, the WiiU had a tablet tied to a console (you could say a prototype for remote play), the DS debuted dual screens and a touch interface, and the 3DS featured 3D (which was starting get popular, again". I personally think if that is the case then the "new way to play" is a console that fully requires the user to use Virtual Reality all the time. I do however, see Nintendo showing of the NX at either the Tokyo Game Show in September (6 months before March) or a Direct in December.

Long story short; Will I be disappointed by the NX not appearing at E3, no. Am I disappointed in the fact Nintendo are screwing over their other IPs in favour of game that will come out next year, yes.

(Deleted previous comment because I noticed some grammatical mistakes that would make my old GCSE English teacher roll in her grave).
